There were two star performers on Day Three. Oman Air returned to the Marina di Villasimius having pulled out an eight point lead. However while the Omani team, led by new skipper Adam Minoprio succeeded in scoring 10 points, Alinghi was close behind on 11.
The Omanis may once again have been lowest scorers, but Alinghi and INEOS Rebels UK were only one and two points behind. This situation would have been markedly different too had these two teams not been called OCS in the final race, in which they finished seventh and eighth respectively.
For the ten international teams competing off Lagos, Portugal, it was a day of two halves plus a mix of conditions and starting formats provided a worthy test that caused even the most polished crews to falter.
